Jeffrey Arlen Spinner is Senior Counsel to the firm, concentrating his practice in the areas of matrimonial and family law, real estate, criminal defense, foreclosure defense and civil litigation. A graduate of Ithaca College and Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center, he entered private practice in Hartford County, Connecticut, in 1987.
He was appointed a Suffolk District Judge in 1998 and then elected to two terms as County Judge. He served with distinction for twenty years in the County Court, Family Court and Supreme Court, all in Suffolk County. During his judicial tenure, he authored over 240 published decisions (official and unofficial), including Romano v. Steelcase Inc. 30 Misc 3d 426, which was New York’s seminal case on discovery relating to social media. He also personally collected over $3,000,000.00 in delinquent child support as well as creating, implementing and overseeing the Residential Mortgage Foreclosure Settlement Conference Part.
His vast legal knowledge and practical experience extend to family law, criminal law, real property, litigation, foreclosure, municipal law, commercial law, professional malpractice, corporate law, contracts, insurance, elections and Mental Hygiene law. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Touro Law Center and has lectured for the Suffolk Academy of Law. In addition, he holds certificates in automotive mechanics from General Motors, has engaged in housing rehabilitation for indigent persons in New York and West Virginia, as well as creating and serving on the board of directors of a not-for-profit foundation.
In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with family, reading and travel in New England. He is admitted to practice in Connecticut, New York, the U.S. District Courts for Connecticut and the Eastern, Southern and Western Districts of New York, the United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces and the United States Supreme Court.
